Priority will be given to proposals with community partnerships or community-engaged research activities. From February 1-25, 2021, W+GRA will accept funding proposals for UNC Charlotte-based projects that fall within the following criteria:
- Support an ongoing research project or a new research project
- Presentations, workshops, trainings or programs that address the health and well‐being of women and girls and will inform the work of W+GRA
Dr. Michelle Meggs joins W+GRA as new Executive Director
The UNC Charlotte Women + Girls Research Alliance welcomes our new Executive Director, Dr. Michelle Meggs. Dr. Meggs, whose diverse background includes work in academia, the nonprofit sector and ministry, envisions the W+GRA becoming the place for scholars across the state and nation to come together to advance gender equity and social mobility. Dr. Meggs seeks to connect community organizations doing work on the ground with university researchers whose research relates to women’s health, economic security, employment, civic and political engagement and violence against women.
Dr. Meggs holds a Doctor of Arts in Humanities with a concentration in Africana Women’s Studies from Clark Atlanta University and a Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Johnson C. Smith University.
